We’re glad to be back. We’ve missed you.

update!! yes, really…

June 5th, 2008 by Justin

Just so we’re all on the same page:

  • Jon moved to London. Justin stayed in Houston.
  • Jon started playing and dj’ing as Oppressed by the Line. He released a record under that name.
  • Justin started playing and dj’ing as the Air Alone. He will probably finish a record this year.
  • Jon started Drifting Falling Records. Justin is mastering releases for the label.
  • Jon moved back to Houston.
  • Of Normandy started crawling back out of the abyss a few months ago.
  • We could play a show as early as late July… but honestly it will probably be September.
  • September’s Not So Far Away.
  • We still love you, and we miss you.

There, now you’re all caught up. Let’s make like it hasn’t been 4 years, and don’t make us work so hard to get to second base.

indefinite hiatus

April 16th, 2004 by Justin

Of Normandy are taking an hiatus of indefinite length. Jon is scheduled to move to London during the last week of May (or first week of June), so, as Justin is not planning on going as far as London, there will be NO MORE LIVE SHOWS in the near future. Your last chance to see them in Houston (or at all for as long as anyone can foresee) will be next WEDNESDAY the 21ST @ the PROLETARIAT with PACIFIC UV (Athens, GA) and MY EDUCATION (ATX). The recently completed MONUMENT Ep will be for sale at this show for $5, and on a website somewhere soon.

Jon and Justin have no intention of not continuing to make music together. It will be more difficult, but since the internet is so awesome, it is possible. They are, however, currently working on a follow up release to the MONUMENT Ep as we speak, since Jon is still in Houston. This will be the first release featuring the newest member of the band, HK (from Buddha on the Moon). Unfortunately it will not be available until sometime later this summer. Keep checking www.ofnormandy.com to find out what everyone is up to in the future, and when new Of Normandy records are available.

Please come and join Of Normandy for their last show.

We have finished mixing the EP. No idea yet when we’ll be able to afford to put it out, but one step at a time right?

show

October 22nd, 2003 by Jon

On November 1st we will be playing at Mary Jane’s Fat Cat in Houston with Explosions in the Sky, and Lazarus. This show is going to destroy! We’re going to build a sand castle, then EITS is going to kick it over and steal your girlfriend — metaphorically speaking of course. In other word Explosion in the Sky is the shit.

We’re very excited that Thatcher Focke will be filling on bass guitar for us on some upcoming dates. Thatcher is such an awesome bass player, we’re very excited about this. We just hope we don’t get spoiled.

would you run over grandma?

July 25th, 2003 by Justin

Would you run over your own grandmother to get to a Slowdive concert?

Do you play the bass guitar?

Do you have your own gear?

Do you have very few other obligations?

Do you want to be in a band?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, write us because we’re looking for a bass player. Preferably one who can sing harmony vocals…and if you are a girl (or at least sing like one) that would be cool too. We have some shows already booked for the fall… Oct 8 and Nov 9, so hurry up.
